General Contractors snubbed 2016 flood victims when asked to construction new homes at 108 sf. Today the same builders are not responding to 157.25 plus per sqft, why?

HUD CDBG-DR grant programs have now recognized that market prices work better for reconstructing homes after major disasters.

This began with the 2016 Floods in Louisiana, when HUD CDBG-DR funds were allocating only $78 per sqft for reconstruction for low to moderate-income households. However, market costs in 2016 ranged from $108 to $150, depending on the type of residential construction.

Fast forward to 2023, and the HUD CDBG-DR approved funding for reconstruction is now set at $157.25 or more.

However, a current challenge is that some builders who initially accepted $78 per sqft are still receiving grant awards from state managers overseeing HUD CDBG-DR funds.

It's high time that authentic residential builders step up and get registered for Solution 2, aiding homeowners in rebuilding after major disasters. Louisiana boasts the highest-funded HUD CDBG-DR reconstruction program in the nation, offering homeowners substantial support for their rebuilding efforts.

If you're a general contractor not involved in house flipping or the real estate industry for profit, please reach out for potential collaboration. Let's eliminate labor brokers and return to the essence of true residential builders. We seek trained W2 employees under the guidance of company owners, rather than transient laborers working as independent contractors.

We also need fewer investment-focused builders prioritizing speed over quality. Instead, we require more independent phase inspectors working in the homeowners' best interests, ensuring every tax dollar spent on building results in a home that will endure beyond a 30-year mortgage and a 20-year retirement plan. In essence, let's build homes meant to last 50 years or more before major repairs become necessary.

Together, let's compile a list of the finest builders in the state who have the capability and willingness to construct new residential homes at $157.25 per sqft.

If you're a dedicated home builder with expertise in all trades, reach out so I can verify your qualifications for homeowners. Additionally, I'll create detailed Build to Design plans to ensure there's no ambiguity about construction standards.
