Thank You Senator Marco Rubio for all your hard work with Senator John Kennedy, Senator Bill Nelson, Senator Cornyn John and Senator Ted Cruz on S. 2226 that just helped 230 Louisiana households this week with their SBA DOB issues.

  1. (1) take into consideration whether an applicant for assistance from the grantee applied and was approved for, but declined, assistance related to the major disaster from the Administration under section 7(b) of the Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 636(b)); or
  2. (2) reduce the amount provided to an applicant described in paragraph (1) by any amount that the applicant would have received from the Administration if the applicant had not declined the assistance.

Your efforts were 100% responsible for making a difference to others not even in your state. To other Disaster Victims of the SBA Disaster Loan program. To be penalized for not taking a SBA loan in the amount of the approved loan was just not logical.

Public Law 115-123 signed into law Feb 9, 2018 was your work!

We have talked with other disaster victims that like our household was one of those once penalized by the SBA DOB for Declining to sign the SBA Loan Documents. You made being penalized just for applying for a SBA loan disappear from our duplication of benefits.

It was all you! Thank You!!!

This shows all disaster victims that some people know the issues and know how to fix them. We appreciate you each and everyone of you. It was Senator Marco Rubio that produced the fix for my family and others like us. The co-sponsors also had a major part in it all, with Senator Kennedy reading the bill on the house floor that same day. I watched and listened to every word and felt it would do more than anything proposed to that date. Thank you for following what you all felt was the right thing to do. Thank you for applying logical thinking to our disaster recovery efforts.

I hope to see 230 Louisiana Homeowners reach out and thank these Senators for all they did via social media, email or a simple phone call.

For those unfamiliar with the Declined SBA Loan issue we have documented our experiences and our advocating for change since the bill S. 2226 was read on the floor of the house.
