I was not told why my SBA loan was declined. Does the SBA send a reason code or declined reason by letter?
The SBA should have emailed and sent via US postal mail a letter with the reason you were declined. They will not send you a declined code reason. But you can call and request that code number. The code will help you with your reconsideration letter.

If you are declined your SBA loan a declined letter will be sent to the email address on file with your application as well as a postal letter mailed from the processing center.

You will have to request reconsideration in writing within 6 months of the date of your declined letter.

Rule of thumb is if you have not heard anything in 2 to 3 weeks and have not seen a declined letter move forward with your reconsideration letter.

Send an email to: pdcrecons@sba.gov

or Mail:
U.S. Small Business Administration
Disaster Assistance Processing &; Disbursement Center
14925 Kingsport Road
Fort Worth, Texas 76155

Include your application number and any information required to overcome the reason for declined loan.

Search the SBA section here for more details on how to submit your reconsideration letter.

The processing time will vary depending on the reason and the additional information you supply.

If you have already submitted your reconsideration and have been declined once again you must then file for an appeal of your declined reconsideration. This will be your third and final attempt. We are not big on calling in for help but you may need to get your Congressional Representative or a State Representative to endorse you and your business for this loan. The SBA OIG doesn't appreciate calling in politicians but at times we have no choice. Word of warning from the SBA OIG is to not ask your states SBA director to endorse your company since the SBA is processing your loan application. Be creative and honest with your ability to repay disaster debt. Do not bank on SBA EIDL forgiveness of this loan even if their is talk about it. It took 4 years to reimburse 1,000 people from a 2016 SBA loan program in which over 4,000 took loans. Look in the SBA section for those details.
