The Construction Helper will assist skilled tradesman by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. Must have a general knowledge of construction and use of hand and power tools to assist with the work.

The following are general examples of the work.

  • Assist tradesman with the preparation of materials and equipment for the job and worksite.
  • Assist with lifting, positioning, securing, and cutting of materials during installation.
  • Clean work areas, tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Ensure work area remains stocked with materials needed and requested by the tradesman.
  • Assist other trades as needed
  • Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 75 lbs. and will be required to assist in lifting as a team heavier materials.
  • Must have good balance without fear of falling while working on scaffolding, ladders, beams, piers, joists or rafters.
  • Maximum ladder working height of 35'
  • Must be comfortable with wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to include respirator, gloves, safety glasses, hardhat, long pants and long-sleeved shirt.
  • Must be able to communicate (read, write, hear, comprehend, and speak) to perform work.
  • Willing to perform all types of work on the construction site from clean-up, inventory to material handling and positioning.
  • May operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, and pneumatic) of all types with proper training and oversight until proficient enough to work with the tools without oversight or supervision.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing, pulling, or standing and lifting.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose and soft sand, etc.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces.
  • Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain, Etc.)

You will be at times and when ready asked to go to job sites without any supervision and tasked to complete work. You'll be working within your skillset and will be trained for the task. You will also understand what tools and materials you would need to bring and be provided any specialty tools to complete the job. This will be your independent contractors role once you are requested to complete other job-site tasks. You will have to manage your time effectively, keep control over the project and take responsibility of the project.

Detail-oriented must be able to remember, examine, and observe details.
You are to be detailed oriented and focused on quality that is above code and industry standards for the task at hand. 
The pace of work will depend on task requirements and at no time will speed be the main focus of any task if it lowers the standard of workmanship.
